Greg Oden gets beat playing pick up game at the local fitness center

News reports out of Oregon say that Indiana's own Greg Oden was spotted playing a pickup game actually 2 of them... Greg said that his team lost so he had to play another...another report said that Blazer's coach Nate McMillan had to have a "come to Jesus" talk with him and was assured it will not happen again.

The Portland Trail Blazers are waiting for next season to get there future star center back on the court after having knee surgery... while everyone is up in arms about this kid playing in a pick up game... anyone that ever loved a sport understands how hard it is to sit on the sidelines and watch others play a game he loves...but when that much money is on the line... this is when you realize it is a business.

I am sure that Oden understands now how serious it could have been had he suffered an injury that set him back even further, so really it ain't no big deal just boys being boys...and it is all good.

Oden is rehabbing from micro fracture surgery on his right knee and is not expected to be back in full strength until October Training camp starts...he has been cleared to do some light running and jumping. He said he dunked a few times but it was only a 9ft rim, so he really didn't have to go up, seeing that he is 7 ft.

3 reasons to sign your child up for summer baseball

What are you kids doing during the summer?

Hopefully they are just like we were...out of the house, not sitting up under you...but in the house before the street lights are on...LOL

#1 the relationships that they build with other kids is known to boost their confidence level as they get older, and they learn how to play with others in a team environment while getting some exercise at the same time.... and the relationships last a lifetime, some of my best friends are guys who I played baseball with when I was 7 years old.

#2 if you son or daughter nevers plays baseball or softball...they will have absolutely no way of getting a scholarship to college on a baseball/softball scholarship... this is a guarantee....and the HBC's are begging to give baseball scholarships out.

#3 baseball/softball is a sport that has minimun injuries and the mental aspect of the game, means you don't have to run fast or jump high to master the game... and their minds will defiantley be stimulated as baseball is a thinking game.

and a bonus reason... if your child masters baseball... making it to pro baseball is a lot easier way than basketball in my opinion, and the minimun wage is over $250,000. and that is 6 months of work.

again tell me why your child isn't playing?

Dee Dee Jernigan is on the move again

Dee Dee Jernigan will have another address in the fall...Xavier Musketeers.

Local Stand out Basketball star from East Chicago Central is on the move again, this time she is headed to play basketball this fall @ Xavier in Ohio... she has 2 years remaining on her eligibility.

Transferring to Xavier is going to match her up with some of her old friends from AAU, so I am sure they are delighted to get her after she finished her time at Wabash Valley College.

She joins Amber Harris(North Central H.S.) and Ta'Shia Phillips(Brebeuf H.S.) both from Indianapolis, and Jerri Taylor from South Bend Washington as fellow Hoosiers on the roster.

2 reason for Hoosiers to watch the sweet 16

In doing my research, I have found 2 reason for all Indiana Hoosiers to watch the sweet 16...

#1 is that fact even though we let this guy get out of our state schools...and I do have a problem with that...but his name is Courtney Lee, I know I don't have to tell you people down on the South End of I-65, in Nap town, because I heard this guy was putting it down at Pike H. S. and he continues to put it down for Western Kentucky.

Lee, senior guard, is riding high after dropping 29 points(9 over his season average), 7 rebounds, 4of 5 from 3 land in 35 minutes against San Diego, I know they aren't UCLA, but his experience should come in to play. He dropped 21 points on Gonzaga, 22 Pt's on Michigan, and 23 points on Tennessee as the #12 seeded Hilltoppers went 1-2 against those teams but all the losses combined totaled 9 points. I really like Western Kentucky's chances, but of course he is going to need the help of fellow Seniors Tyrone Brazelton and Ty Rogers to get the job done against the #1 seed, Pac 10 powerhouse, UCLA.

Game Time 9:40 EST ... in Phoenix, AZ on CBS TV

#2 reason is simply to watch #3 seed Xavier take on #7 West Virginia, because our home grown talented Joe Hughes from Cathedral H.S. in Indy, probably will not be getting much playing time tonight who is averaging less than 1 point a game...and that is ok... he is only a Freshman, so this experience will grow to be valuable for him and rest of his career at Xavier. Xavier is suppose to win this game although Bob Huggins will really crank up that old Big East defense to try to advance to the elite 8.

Of course some of us are a little upset that Xavier knocked out Purdue and ended their party early, after putting Georgia out of their misery... they won those games by a combined total of 19 points so I look for them to advance past UWV...but it will be a tough one.

Game Time: 7:10 EST in Phoenix AZ, also on CBS

Troy Polamalu is one hair of a player.

I am not trying to be funny...but what the heck is wrong with the NFL, have they lost their minds?

So now there is this talk about having these NFL players cut their hair, who do they think they are, THE NEW YORK YANKEES!!!

Players like Troy Polamalu's hair is a trademark to him and I am sure his fan base loves it too. I for one like Troy Polamalu's long and flowing out of that helmet while he is rushing the quarterback or chasing down a receiver...and what I like most about his hair is the fact that my girl likes his hair more...matter of fact that is the only way I can watch football in peace on Sunday because I know that she will watch for his hair... so even when he ain't playing and say I am watching the Rams and Steven Jackson, or Packers and Al Harris, I can be like which one do you like better.

It simply keeps her off my back.

I owe Troy and players like him for allowing their hair to grow a big thanks because it allows me to have peace on Sundays in my house.

John Boyd named to coaching staff of 2008 Indiana Basketball HS All-Stars

I think it is about time that you guys give the credit to John Boyd that he deserves...I have been at games this year at West Side and listening to folks in the stands... all they wanted to do was hate on John Boyd(131-63 and his West Side Cougars Boys Basketball Team, you know the ones that won the 4A State Championship in 2002.

I for one didn't think of JB as a Basketball coach, because I had only known of him to be a baseball guy... but over these last few years he has proved alot of people wrong... even me.

Even though over the years I have watched him mature into a good coach and his players respond to him very well...even putting a few in division 1 college programs... what can you ask for from a coach... get your players to the next level, thats what.

John is opening eyes in Indiana and was named to the coaching staff of the annual Indiana-Kentucky All-Star games, he along with Tecumseh's Kevin Oxley with assist Head Coach Rick Baumgartner from Muncie South, in putting the best talent on the floor.

"I'm honored to get this opportunity, especially being such a young coach," said Boyd, "I try to do things right. I try to uplift kids. I'm glad to get asked. Other than being the head coach, this is the highest honor you can get."

JB, the only advice I got for you is make sure that Tyler Zeller and Seth Coy from Washington High is on the team...you can win with those giants.

Here is a my 2 cents...
Derrell Conner
Tyler Zeller
Seth Coy
Julius Mays
Walter Offutt
Angel Garcia
DeAndre Allen
Pryce Underwood
