Tonight I was watching the Rutgers v. Tennesse Women's Basketball game and I was like...where is Dee Dee Jernigan?
So I went to Yahoo Sports and typed in Rutgers womens b-ball and looked at the roster...no Dee Dee, and I wondering wtf...so then I did a google search and in the first few hits...I got nothing and hoping that maybe she left after the Don Imus thing, plus I know she wasn't getting much playing time at Rutgers...and then I saw a link to the times from back in December about she had transferred to another school...She is now playing at WABASH VALLEY COLLEGE in Illinois, that made me happy, seeing that I root for everyone that lives or lived in Northwest Indiana, no matter what city to do big things and I like to follow them...unlike our friendly newspapers The Post-Tribune or The Times.
It seems that they pick and choose what and who they want to cover and I simply don't believe that is right thing to do, why not report it all(possible scholarships)...like my grandfather always said "if you are going to do it, you might as well do it right". Maybe our local papers could learn a lesson or two from my grandfather, Sylvester Hodge, or maybe some of these guys did learn something from him, but forgot it. My grandfather taught ROTC at Roosevelt High and Horace Mann High School, after serving 20+ years in the United States Army.
I know they say that they don't have the manpower to dedicate someone to follow each and everyone that graduated from a local school manually, but with the invention and popularity of the internet...don't you think this could be done, I do! If the price was right I would even do it, cause I always thought that the local papers were part of our community and are suppose to report local stuff over national stuff at all times, but I guess I am wrong. -at least that is why I read the local paper.
Anyway to get back on track...Dee Dee is down there at Wabash, doing her thing like she did when she attended East Chicago High School, delighting the fans, with her ball handling skills and quickness...
According to the Wabash Valley College's web site Dee Dee is averaging ...
as of 2/10/08
16.5 pts/gm
5.8 rebounds/gm
44.6% FG%
23-94 =24.4% in 3pt
61.7% FT%
4.4 assists/gm
2.3 steals/gm
